kill the screens

well, cv and i are taking the plunge. we are cancelling our comcast cable and internet access for at least the next three months. this will be a new adventure to determine what to do with the previously multiple filled hours of screen time. of course, we can still surf the internet at the local coffee shop, rent a movie, or whatev, but at least the mindlessness will likely dissapate. we are hoping it will be good for our backsides, relationships, and community. we'll keep you posted on how it goes.
i hear from a friend, who is single and lives alone, that it can be remarkably quiet.

"American children and adolescents spend 22 to 28 hours per week viewing television, more than any other activity except sleeping. By the age of 70 they will have spent 7 to 10 years of their lives watching TV."
