sweater nurse
so i heard something funny the other day. apparently us nurse practitioner types are referred to as "sweater nurses." as in, we don't wear scrubs, we wear sweaters. pretty funny considering many of us do wear sweaters. as if suits are too formal and certainly scrubs too informal.
my journey to becoming this kind of warm, fuzzy cozy professional is getting near the end. by next june i'll be out of school and hopefully going to work for pay.
today was an especially good day working with decent families and kids i can see getting better at some point. also, i think i am making some rather good decisions on medications and offering some other tips to families about parenting a to a teen about self-care.
i just might end up being a good sweater nurse afterall!

i must say you have very lovely sweaters, so it's a good thing you will be a sweater nurse.
Hi! :) Sorry, I hope you don't mind, I just randomly found your blog through a "Portland" search. let me know if you think this is too forward k? I just wanted to say what you're doing is remarkable, and I admire you for working so hard to achieve something that's so important to you. Becoming a "sweater nurse" is a highly respectable profession! :) I also want to work in the health care field (I think). I'm starting a job soon working with an autistic boy. I'm pretty excited to help out with that. I also went to the St. V's eating disorder program about a year ago and then again a few months ago. I knew Barb pretty well, I really like her. Anyway, I hope you're having a great day! :)
