travels and heat

i had such a great trip. fun times in las vegas with robyn, jay & little justin. he is a 9 month old muscle man marvel--already taking his first steps. pretty amazing. it was great to reconnect with my best friend from college, robyn. she is such a genuine friend. we had too much fun looking up old boyfriends on the internet and seeing what they are now up to in life. one of her old boyfriends, Steve Gventer, is a key goodwill communicator with the Iraqui people and has been all over CNN, etc. Pretty wild. We spent about 2 hours on the strip. The Bellagio Hotel is amazing, but other than that and a few shows, I could do without the Vegas Strip. Definitely not my kind of place.

I also spent about a week in Austin, Texas with my mom, brother, his wife, and neice Kai. She is 10 1/2 months old and a real charmer. So expressive and sweet. We had a blast with her. Fun at the pool and an overnight with me and GrandB (Becky-my mom) one night. As usual, Haydn and Tiff are so fun, encouraging, and we have so much in common in faith and worldview. Too bad we live so far from one another.

Well I must have brought back some Texas/Nevada heat with me. Its 100 degrees today in Portland and we are sweltering without the air conditioning. Yuck!
